Take Night Train in Italy!

Hi Lola. From Nice to rome, you might consider flying on easyjet.com. For Naples to Venice, yes, there is a night train on the Rome to Venice leg, but there are also much faster trains that can do the whole Naples to Venice in 5+ hours. See trenitalia.com to see all trains in Italy.

There is no night train from Nice to Florence or Rome. Most trains are slower Regionale types and the train journey from Nice to Florence takes 6.5-7.5hrs. Plus, you change trains at least twice. Bob's suggestion to fly is a good one. For Naples to Venice, the high-speed day trains take 5.5hrs with no train changes (mostly). The night train takes the same tracks but takes 10hrs for the two overnight runs. Hmmm. Quite simply, they just pull over or stay longer at Rome or Bologna. There is a third run that changes to a night train in Bologna but the overall journey takes 6hrs15min and arrives at 1:05am. Hardly a night train. There are three train runs from Naples to Venice that involve a night train - two that go overnight and the one quicker one mentioned above. None of the three are night train all the way. All three require a train change to get onto the night train. You will not be on any night train for more than 6.5hrs. Of the two overnight trains, for the first run departing Naples at 19:17, you will change trains in Rome-Termini with a 2hr layover until your night train segment departs for Venice. For the second run, departing 10 minutes later at 19:27, it's an older IC train that again requires a train change at Rome-Termini. And, guess what? You catch the same night train as the previous run. But, you only have a 1hr layover as the IC train was much slower than the high-speed in the previous run.
