We will be arriving at Charles de Gaulle airport and would like to catch a train to Venice. Does anyone know which train, how long and how much?
This website gives answers to those questions and more:
Anita, three choices. First is the day train that takes 15.5hrs to get from Paris to Venice. It's 115E for 2nd class and 151E for 1st class. You'll need to change trains in Milan and Bologna. The second choice is a night train that leaves Paris Bercy at 8:28pm and arrives at Venezia Santa Lucia at 9:39am the next day (13hrs 11min). No train changes. HERE'S THE SCHEDULE. The last choice is waiting until 8:04am the next morning and catching a 10hr. run with one train change in Milan.
Anita, what time will you arrive at CDG? There is one more day route choice: Leave Paris at 10:30, change trains in Geneva and Milan, and arrive at Venezia Santa Lucia at 23:09.
If you will arrive late morning or in the afternoon, my recommendation would be to spend whatever portion of the day you have seeing a bit of Paris and then take the direct night train to Venice.
It is so cheap to fly--to me it is worth the time and money to fly to Venice.
