I've used Vacation Rental by Owner (VRBO) in the past for domestic rentals and I'm using them for my upcoming stay in Paris. So far, I have nothing but good reports. Friends of mine have used them for international rentals and have also had good luck. Sorry, I'm not familiar with homeaway.com. Best to you!

I "heard" that Homeaway owns VRBO now. Can anybody confirm that?

Mary - I have used vacationinparis.com. They are US based and were quite accommodating and very knowledgeable on their apartments. I also like that we had the key for the apartment before we left the states.

We've used Homeaway several times and had great luck. We've already rented an apartment in Berlin next summer with them. Have a great time!

Take a look at the address on Google Street View. "Walk" around the neighborhood. I've used homeaway.com in the States with good luck.

We used VRBO and homeaway for our 5 week Europe trip this last Sept / Oct for apartments in France and Italy. Three out of four were great! One suggestion is to check the number of comments on the particular home or apartment. The more comments, the better! We rented a flat in Antibes which had only one comment and we now know why. The more positive comments... the better! If visitors like the place, they usually leave a comment.

Sandy, I wonder if we stayed at the same place in Antibes - LOL!. I found out that the owners can delete negative reviews. I saw a negative review go up and come down 2 days later on the place we were currently staying in - a little to late for us. So I agree look at the number of reviews. If the place has few reviews , even though they are positive, may not be a good sign.

Well, lots of readers tell about VRBO and other apartments, but you specifically want Homeaway comments, so we should help you with that. Yes, I've used VRBO and Homeaway, and both are great. We have such good luck with Homeaway that we have rented an apartment in Berlin for 45 days next summer through them. Relax and enjoy your stay!
