Has anyone purchased Louvre Tickets online from the Ticketnet link on the Louvre's website? I know they are slightly more expensive, however I don't want to stand in a huge line to buy tickets there. Also the Paris Museum pass would not justify itself with our short itinerary in Paris. Any input?
The long lines are usually at the top (pyramid) entrance. If you use the Carrousel entrance (down the steps to the east and through the underground mall) the lines are usually much shorter. Go a couple of hours before closing and there are usually no lines anywhere worth talking about. I've always thought that the only one who makes out with passes is the pass peddler. Edit: the direction above for the better entrance is WEST, not east.
The really long line is usually at the Pyramid entrance - because of the security check. If you go in through the Carousel entrance (near the Arch), the security line is usually much shorter. Either way, you will then be under the Pyramid. There are several ticket booths, sometimes there is a long line at some and no line at others. There are also machines that you can buy tickets from. You get the audio guides (if you so choose) upstairs. Pay attention to which of the stations you take the guide/s from - you have to return it to the same one . . . to get your photo id back.
