I am looking for suggestions for places to stay in Beaune. We prefer the city center (unless advised otherwise) . Someplace with charm for under US $140. A lot of the places in the France 2011 guidebook are already booked for September.

by train. We're open to staying outside the center if there is an accessible way to walk into town in under 20 minutes.

We found the Hotel Rousseau which is in Rick's guidebook to be very convenient. Its just a few minutes to walk to the center . Madame Rousseau is very amiable and there's a lovely courtyard in the back where you can relax. Breakfast was nothing to brag about but overall a good place to stay at a good price. http://www.hotel-rousseau.com/

We stayed at Hotel Remparts in May and liked it. We walked from the train station and it was an easy walk with luggage. This hotel is actually within the wall and convenient to everything in Beaune.
