Barcelona beaches

I've heard that although the Barcelona beaches are fine the water is questionable for swimming. Any feedback on thta? Thanks

Questionable in what way? Temperature? Water quality? Currents?

I was at the beach in Barcelona last week and the water is fine and safe.
