7 days in Riviera/Provence

We'll be flying in&out of Nice (to/from Paris) next Month. As it's our first vacation in France, we really appreciate your input! We're considering to stay in Nice for 2 nights. Then rent a car, drive by Grand Canyon du Verdon to arrive in Roussillon (How long would it take from Nice to Roussillon?), stay there for 2 nights, and explore the area including Avignon. Drive to Arles to stay there for 2 nights, and early morning of the last day, drive back all the way to Nice thru La Route des Cretes (How long would it take from Arles to Nice?). Our flight departs in the evening. Do you have any advice/suggestions to our tentative plan described above? Also, we'll have to miss the Sunday/Thurs market in Arles... Is there any other market in the Riviera/Provonce area that we could visit (or in Paris)?

I have to say this sounds like a really delightful itinerary. Not sure I can be helpful. But I am confused about your reference to Paris.

Are you visiting Paris and then flying to Nice? If so you could save yourself a bit of doubling back by not returning to Paris, except to take the train to Charles DeGaulle airport from Avignon (there are direct trains) or Nimes, both easy trips from Arles, at the very end of your stay.

You'd get an extra day in Provence out of it, versus a rather long haul back to Nice.

We appreciate your quick replies! On the way to Nice from Seattle, we'll have only a few hour layover in Paris, but on the way back, we'll be visiting Paris for 4 days before returning to Seattle. So the total of 11 days in France; 7 days in Riviera/Provence & 4 days in Paris.

Question: Would you suggest us to bring a laptop with us? We have a very light & thin Apple MacBook which could be easily carried in my purse.

Well, I encourage you to think of this plan as working your way from Nice to Paris. Don't double back from Provence to Nice, take the train from Provence to Paris and spend the day you gain enroute.
