We have a few days to stay in Basel before taking a Rhine cruise, what would you recommend. The 4 participants are all adults, (2 elderly). Is there any possibility of a gondola/ cable ride near by? Any ethnic/regional foods we should try?

Basel is interesting for a short trip. My preference though would be to take a train to Lucerne and spend two days there. Lots to do at a slow pace. Or somewhere along a lake
