One day in VIenna

Hello, I will have one day in Vienna, Austria. I plan to arrive around 11AM and will have to leave by 8 PM. I will have a car with me. Any suggestions for places that I can visit?
Thanks.

There's so much to experience in Vienna, but you could park the car and see these central sites: St. Stephan's Cathedral - must see Hofburg Palace Complex - must see
State Opera House (could skip tour and just look at lobby if short on time) The Kunsthistorisches Museum (just the highlights because it's huge) Café Sacher for the famous Sachertorte You could drive to this palace on your way out of town: Schönbrunn Palace - must see (better than Hofburg) If you have time, squeeze in some music, but it might be tough with just one very short day. Look at a guidebook or two for one-day itinerary ideas.

I agree. There is so much to see in Vienna. But my suggestion: park the car, hop on the ring Tram line which circles the city center, bring along your Rick Steves book and read from there (he has a paragraph specifically for this trip) as you pass through the different sites while enjoying the locals getting on and off. Inexpensive and fun! Once done, find yourself a cafe to have a typical Sacher torte with coffee, then take your car and drive outside Vienna to Schoennbrun Castle, a really must see! Gute Reise!

Get on the Riesenrad (ferris wheel) and humm "The Third Man" theme to yourself! :-)

My favorite thing in Vienne was the Schoenbrunn Palace - which wasn't even in town. Just my two cents. Oh - and you can get WAY cheaper SacherTorte NOT in the Hotel Sacher.
