We will be arriving paris by train into Gare de Lyon station. Our apartment is at the corner of Rue Etienne Marcel and rue Montmartre. Can we take the metro, and if so, is it line 1? Looks like the best stop is Chatelet. Can anyone confirm?

Debra - I not sure how much luggage you will have, so here goes. You can take Metro Line 14 direction Saint-Lazare from Gare de Lyon up to Chatelet from there it looks to be about a 15-20 minute walk to the corner of Rue Etienne Marcel and Rue Montmartre.
