Bob, I have stayed in 2 very different hotels in Genoa. One is the Best Western City Hotel which is downtown on a very busy street and very close to Piazza Ferrari which is the main piazza in Genoa. It is a business hotel, very nice, pretty good breakfast. The other hotel is Hermitage hotel which is in the Albaro/Foce area--a very nice residential area. The hotel has very plain but very large rooms and a mediocre breakfast. This one has lots of self parking and is very quiet. I guess it depends on if you have a car, and what it is you want to see. The 2nd one is not near the sights. We were visiting relatives and it was not important to be near the sights. Good Luck!

Thanks Both your recommendations sound good to us. We do have a car and will definitely ck out the hotels you recommend.
