Whats the most economical and fairly convenient way of getting to the Brussels airport from the European quarter??
Take the Metro (I think the station is "Robert Schuman") to Brussel Centraal, then hop on one of the frequent trains to the airport from there. It's a pretty quick ride from downtown Brussels.
Thank you
There's also a bus (Airport Line) that runs directly from Schuman area to the airport. It takes about 1/2 an hour and costs only 3 euros for a direct trip. http://www.stib.be/airport-line.html?l=en
From the European quarter the bus is much faster than the train. It's number 12 or 21 (depending on day of week and time of day) and leaves from a stop on the Schuman roundabout. It's clearly marked 'Airport Line' and you can buy tickets from automated machines near the stop (if they're working!) which are a bit cheaper than if you buy the ticket from the driver. It's 3 or 4 euros one way. If you're going to be doing the trip a lot you can even buy a card of 10 Airport line trips which cuts the price per trip to 2 euros and change.
