6.5 hr layover in Frankfurt , Christmas Markets?

We have a 6.5 hr layover (7am to 1:45pm) in Frankfurt on a Sat in December. Im hoping that gives us enough time to get out of the airport and find a christmas market to browse before catching our flight in the afternoon. We will be traveling with our six year old and would like to show her the Markets, she is well traveled and is easy to take places. Im assuming I should be back to the airport two hours before our flight since we are heading to Canada. Any advice is appreciated.

The Christmas markets in Wiesbaden, Frankfurt and Darmstadt are all within easy reach of the airport. Of the three, I like the Darmstadt market the best. But... they usually open in the afternoon. If your connecting flight departs at 1.45, I'm afraid you don't have enough time.

Your time is a bit short, so you will probably do best with the closest market which is Frankfurt, as the market is just a 15 min ride from the airport.

With your flight at 13:45, you should plan on being back at the airport by 11:15-11:30, especially since you will want to store your carry ons at the airport and you will need to pick them up. Sadly most stands won' t open til 10:00 or so, but you can still get a nice feel for the market. The Klein Markt Halle opens at 08:00 and the large open Farmers Market at the Konstablerwache opens at 08:30-9:00.

There is a train from the Hauptwache at 10:57 which gets you to the airport at 11:15, or a train at 11:12 which gets you there at 11:30. This will be the S-8 or S-9

Thanks for your advice...

can you tell me what the best way is to get from the Airport to these locations? Our bags will be checked through to our final destination, so all we will have to worry about is our carry on luggage, are those easy to stow at the airport in lockers? Thanks again.
