6.2 Magnitude Earthquake in Spain

From CNN: [Updated 6:52 p.m.] There were no immediate reports of deaths, injuries or damages. The earthquake struck at 12:08 a.m. local time Monday (6:08 p.m. Sunday ET). The quake's epicenter was 24 kilometers (15 miles) southeast of Granada and 93 kilometers (58 miles) northeast of Malaga.

That's very unusual isn't it?!

Since I'll be in Spain in about 1.5 weeks, I sure hope it's unusual!!

Google 'plate tectonics'. Look where the eurasian plate and the african plate meet. There will probably be more. Sometime.

CL--Hope all goes well on your trip to Spain--we will be there in about 1 month. Ed, that was a good suggestion to look at the tectonic plate map--it's interesting! I also found that this quake was 383 miles deep which lessened the possibility for damage of the quake as the seismic effect is absorbed by the earth. Many quakes are just a few miles deep.

Hoping for safe travels for all!

The most risky/dangerous part of your trip, opportunity for bodily injury, will be the drive to the airport.
