Neuschwanstein castle tour

No problems-- park in one of the paid lots, walk up to the ticket windows and get your ticket. Then the question is: ride a carriage up to the castle; ride the bus (we bought tickets and waited and waited and waited until we were almost too late for our tour or 3) take the trail up to the castle-- if you can walk and the weather is good, it's an easy walk (unless you are in a rush!). Don't miss walking up to Marienbrücke for the view down!

BTW, we also saw Linderhof and liked it much better-- off the beaten path, way less tourists, way less rush through. For next trip, we'll be skipping Neuschwanstein and going to Linderhof instead..

We are taking a bike tour from www.mikesbiketours.com. Based in Munich, they will take you either bus or train, depending on the season and then provide bikes to bike around near the castle, and other various activities. It looks like a lot of fun and something a bit different from the normal "bus tours". They also have a tour that sees Linderhoff and Neuschwanstien, and does not have biking involved. Their prices are also more resonable than anything else I found.

It's super easy - do it on your own!

You can also buy your tickets online ahead of time and avoid potential long lines.

I have done the Mike's bike tour in Munich and we loved it! I didn't know they had one to Neuschwanstein, but I bet it's fun! We booked our tickets on line before we left for both of the castls tours. It saves time, you don't have to wait around for you tour time. You just show up a little prior to your tour. Get there early due to the climb up.

if you go on your own, go early in the day. Tour groups take up alot of the tour times. It is awesome-enjoy.
