Tulsi, I was in this area a few weeks ago. It is a such a awesome area. Definately go to Lauterbrunnen. From there you can take the cable car up to Murren. Walk around this car free wonderful town, then walk to Gimmewald. You will see them most wonderful sites you can ever imagine. You could take as many walks as you want to, they are well marked with how long they take. You could go up to the more expensive mountain tops. We didn't because we were on a budget. You will get enough beauty without it anyway. Have fun!

Why not just stay in Lauterbrunnen or better yet up to Murren or one of the other villages? Steve

@Marsha, "go to Jungfrauy as well as Murren and Gremewal" Are you referring to Gimmelwald or Grindelwald??? As Sasha mentioned, Lauterbrunnen would be a good base for that area, as it's between the places you want to visit. With only two days, you may have to visit Gimmelwald / Grindelwald on your arrival day, and take the trip to the Jungfrau the following day. Cheers!

You recommend staying in Lauterbrennen rather than Interlaken. We are planning two days in the area and want to go to Jungfrauy as well as Murren and Gremewal. We're dependent on trains or buses. I Lauterbrennen connect to these location?

Marsha, you resurrected a three-year old post to ask your question. But now that's it's here, the answer is, lauterbrunnen is in a beautiful valley. The Jungfrau is on one side, and Murren and Gimmelwald are on the other. You can catch the train going up to the jUngfrau righ tin Lauterbrunnen. It will take you to Klein Scheidegg where you switch to another train for the last hour part. At Lauterbrunnen you can also catch the cablecar going up to meet the train to Murren. So it is in between the two and a good place to stay if you want to do both in a short amount of time, AND if you are OK with staying in the valley instead of up on the mountainside.
