With one full day, would you visit Geneva or Lausanne? I am interested in hearing your thoughts, experiences, etc.
Thank you.

Lusanne. The new official Olypmics Museum is first rate, and the Collection de l'Art Brut is fascinating.

I haven't been to either yet, but a coworker of mine went to a trade show in Geneva and brought her husband along. He claimed it the best city to take a nap in...
Thank you for the feedback. I appreciate it.
Geneva is sterile - I think, as the host to many international organizations, no one "lives" there. The best thing about it was the cruise round Lake Geneva (Leman). Lausanne looked more scenic and interesting from that boat! You can pick up that boat from Lausanne, too, but with one day, you probably do not have time, unless it takes you on to or towards your next destination.
What is nice in geneva is the lake and water fountain, the flower clock and the square in the old part of the city Place du bourg de four - lausanne is more picturesque indeed, but why not see for yourself and do both? lausanne is only a 40 minute drive from geneva so you could start early morning in geneva, see the must see and leave for lausanne where you'd spend the rest of the day. Lausanne is a very pretty city, most of the town centre is pedestrian and it's not flat, so be prepared to walk!
We stayed inexpensively (yes, Martha, it >>can<< be done) and visited Lausanne several times, spending time at different levels. Rudy's right about the not level.
I'd skip Geneve next time.
Thank you everyone. With your suggestions, I've decided in favor of Lausanne.
And Nigel, inexpensively? Switzerland? I would love to hear more.
