Rail travel

We will arrive in Bingen, Germany and only have 9 minutes to transfer to a train to Munich. I could not remember how large the train station was. Is it a large station - will we have time to make the tansfer?
Thanks

Although I've never been to the station at Bingen, the only stations in Europe where 9 minutes might not be enough time to transfer are the very large, multi-level complexes like in Rotterdam, Antwerp and Warsaw. I doubt a town like Bingen would have such a large station.

There are two stations in Bingen, Bingen Hbf and Bingen Stadt Bhf. Bingen Stadt Bhf is the one closest to the K-D dock, but most transfers are made at Bingen Hbf. I would assume that's where you are transferring. You should make sure by checking the details for your connection on the German Rail website. In particular, click on the '>' symbol to the LH side to show the platform numbers.

There are only six tracks in the Bingen Hbf. They are separated by an "island" on which the station building sits. Tracks 101-103 and 201-203 are on either side of the island, with 101 and 201 adjacent to the island and 102-103 sharing a platform and 202-203 sharing one.

Clear?

If you know where you are going, 9 minutes is plenty of time. I see a Regional Bahn train arriving at Bingen Hbf from Bacharach on track 201 with a transfer to an EC to Munich on track 101. That simply entails a 100' walk across the island, no tunnels.
