5 days in Switzerland or France

Hi, I could use some advice for an upcoming vacation. We have five days in mid-November for vacation from our new base in Geneva. We'd like to find somewhere not too far away (by train or rental car) where we can settle in and do day trips from. Preferably somewhere cheaper than Geneva, though I know all of Europe is expensive right now! Anyone have suggestions of a good location that allows access to a variety of activities?? Thanks!!

Ann, in France the city of Lyon [which as you know is near Geneva] is considered the culinary capital of the western world ... a French opinion ... To learn what's what in Lyon, go to www.Google.com, click on WEB and type into the search box "of interest to tourists in Lyon, France" Have fun and eat well! P.

Check out the medieval walled city of Yvoire. The small town is entirely surrounded by stone walls, and many of the stone walls within the city are still standing as well, running alongside the small lanes and homes. Brightly colored flowers are planted everywhere, spilling onto sidewalks and out of the windows of gingerbread cottages. The town is on the south side of Lake Geneva and not that long of a car ride from Geneva. It right on the edge of the beautiful lake waters. We stayed 2 nights at a beautiful hotel overlooking the lake. We had a small terrace and every morning woke up to a "honeymoon" view of the lake.
The hotel's web site is - http://www.flotsbleus-yvoire.com/english/english.html
- Also check out Beaune in Burgandy if you are into wines.
