What are the best Christmas markets in France and what are the approximate dates. Thanks everyone.
I couldn't say "best", but Rue Cler has a market during the Christmas season. Wouldn't know the dates.
Best Christmas markets I've seen anywhere were in Hasselt, Belgium, and Aachen, Germany.
I have been planning (hopefully 2011) to visit Alsace for their Christmas markets. I have friends in Freiburg,Germany who have recommended it highly. The market season begins on Nov 25th, the feast of St. Catherine, and continues thru the feast of the Epiphany. Here's a website:
Thanks for the info., Linda. My wife and I were in Germany last year during the holidays and did go across the Rhine and visit Colmar and Strasbourg, France. Strasbourg was very good, but very crowded. Colmar was our favorite, however. You will enjoy both.
In Paris there is a Maison de l'Alsace on the Champs- Elysées (No. 39) which has a sort of mini Christmas Market over the holiday period. If you are strolling down the Champs, look for it.
I heard Germany has beautiful Christmas Markets. I visited one in Paris and it wasn't comparable to the one in Cologne (near the Cathedral).
