Does anyone know which stations have direct trains from Paris to Munich? We want to travel by night in a couchette to save sightseeing time. Also where do we book the couchette? Thanks.

The direct night train departs from Paris Est and arrives at Muenchen Hbf. You can book this train at either the French rail site, www.sncf.com, or the German night train site, www.nachtzugreise.de, up to 90 days in advance. I recommend you use the German site because your tickets will readily be mailed to you in the US while the French site will want you to give a mailing address in France. Discount fares are available for this route if booked far enough in advance. To go directly to the booking page, enter buchung.nachtzugreise.de (omitting the "www") and click on the British flag to see the page in English.

You can book tickets or accommodations on the train from Munich Hbf to Paris Ost online on the Nachtzugreise booking website at http://buchung.nachtzugreise.de.
If you book far enough in advance, you can get a non-refundable SparNight fare of €39 per person in a couchette 6 or €49 in a couchette 4.

In a private note, Lee from Denver graciously reminded me that if you book tickets at buchung.nachtzugreise.de, you don't get them in the mail. You simply print them yourself.
