Paris Hotel Recommendations

I've been checking the archives for an hour and I'm not quickly finding what I'm looking for - though I know it's in here somewhere.

My wife and I will be arriving in Paris at the beginning of July and we're looking for a nice, centrally located hotel for the two of us. We'll only be in town for 3 days and are most interested in the Marais and St Germain neighborhoods. Budget is $150-$200/night usd.

We stayed in Rue Cler last summer and enjoyed it; but we're looking for a little more night-time action. Thanks for your help!

I stayed at the Hotel Sevigne in the Marais in June, on the recommendation of someone here. I was very pleased. It was clean, the bathroom was recently done, roomy, spotless, tiled. The elevator was tiny and slow, otherwise it was great, and surprisingly, quiet.

Between the hotel and the St. Paul metro (one city block) there were all the shops you could ask for, an excellent pizzeria and a bistro that was always open. I didn't try the other restaurants, but several looked really tempting.

We've stayed a number of times at Hotel le Regent, on due Dauphine in the St. Germain neighborhood (6th arr.) It's probably at the upper edge of your price range, but their small (standard?) doubles may work.

Great location, walking distance to so many things, and lots of restaurants and cafes close by. It was quiet enough at night, too.

Jeff,

You can also try renting an apartment through vacationinparis.com. It is based on the east cost and has various sizes and styles to choose from. I used this service 2 years ago and it was great.

I second the Hotel Le Regent,, the area is great. I booked a deluxe room and was glad,, the standard rooms are teensy.. but all seemed to have nice bathrooms and a/c.
