Would like to see some of the Balkans in May. Which countries we're not sure yet but I have been watching the respective currencies and would appreciate any input/experiences on which country had the best dollar purchasing power?
Well, as for purchasing power, it depends I guess. Your dollar will not go quite as far in Romania or Bulgaria, as say, Albania or Macedonia. On the other hand, there is more to see and do in Romania and Bulgaria.
Croatia is fairly expensive in Dubrovnik and Split, but less so in the other area of the country. Bosnia is still pretty affordable, Slovenia not as much.
What are you interested in seeing? How long do you have? You could potentially mix some cheap and more expensive places together.
