My husband and I are planning a trip for next year. We are hoping on visiting Paris, several cities/ towns in Normandy and then ending our trip in Belgium. Can someone suggest what's the best website to look at to figure out where trains run to and from and the distances between cities? Thanks!
I find that the German rail web page is the easiest to use for route and schedule information.
I'd use TGV to buy tickets online for France.
I'd also like to suggest that for planning purposes, "the distances between cities" is not usually relevant. Unlike, say, departure and arrival time. Trains can travel different routes covering different distances.
If it is important, a good map can be very helpful.
For trains within Belgium:
But really, the distances are so short and trains leave so frequently that as long as your destination has a rail station, it rarely requires any more planning than showing up at a station, looking at a rail map and figuring out which train to take. You will almost never have to wait longer than an hour, and usually less than 30 minutes.
I alwasy use sbb.ch
They jsut posted 2010 and it is very accurate
