4 or 5 days in Bernese Oberland

Very likely, it'll be Murren and Switzerland will be the last stop of our trip. We plan to go to Jungfraujoch, Schilthorn, have breakfast at the Piz Gloria, See the Trummelbach falls, ride on funicular and the other lifts and if possible make a daytrip to Lucerne so is 4 days enough or should we extend to 5 days? We're planning on 11-12 days tour( London-Paris-Switzerland).Second time for us in London and Paris. Thanks again for you reply

Four days should be enough time to do that and more. Have fun!

One of my favorite things to do in Mürren is to walk down to Gimmelwald, take the gondola on down to the valley floor in Stechelberg, then walk to Trummelbache Falls. It's such an enjoyable thing to do - no stress, no strain, amazing scenery. Take a picnic lunch in your backpack and dine along the way.

So it'll be 4 days. Would there be enough time to do a daytrip to Lucerne? Thanks

You "could" do a daytrip to Luzern from Mürren, but it is a 3-hour journey in each direction. That is 6 hours on a train to spend time in Luzern. And all the train travel adds up in cost---have you thought atout getting a train pass for your Switzerland travel?

An alternative to a daytrip, since you haven't firmly committed to an itinerary, would be to drop a night in Mürren and spend a night in Luzern on your way to the airport (assuming you are flying out of Zürich). Luzern is right on the way if you take the "scenic" Golden Pass route, which doesn't take significantly more time than the faster route through Bern.

You would have one extra hotel check-in and out, but you'd save yourselves 6 hours on the train. And nice hotels in Luzern are right near the station.

Depending on what tie your flight departs Zürich, you can even spend your last night in Luzern and reach the airport from ther by train in just about an hour.

Hi Lola, if I don't do an overnight in lucern, is there a faster way to Zurich airport from Muerren? If there is how long will it take?
I am considering whether to do an overnight in lucern. Thanks

Sally, the "fast" way from Muerren to Zurich goes via Bern and the flatter lands and takes 2 hours 52 minutes to the city. Add 15 to 20 minutes to the airport if you are going on the same journey.

The more scenic route goes along Lake Brienz (Brienzersee) and then up and over a pass to Luzern. The travel time to Zurich on this route is 3 hours 50 minutes, or about an hour longer. To Luzern it is under 3 hours.

The whole thing depends on what time your flight leaves Zurich. If 10 am or later, you could easily spend your last night in Luzern if you would like to see that city. It would be a better option than doing a daytrip to Luzern from Muerren.

Hi Lola,
Thanks for the feedback.I was getting worried that it will take a while just to get to Zurich airport. Now, I know I have a choice - to take the faster way thru Bern or the scenic way thru Lucern.
It all depends on our flight.
I am still trying to figure out how many train change it will be from paris to Murren. I understand from Paris , it is TGV, then we need to change train a few times.we definitely have to travel light and just do laundry as we go along. Thanks
