I'm traveling to Europe in early March. I'll be spending the first 4 days in London and have another 4 days (+1 day to get back to London) to spend somewhere else. Does anyone have a favorite side trip from London (other than Paris) where I could plant myself for 4 days? I'd really like to get back to France or perhaps somewhere else in the UK. Also, given that I'm traveling in early March, the weather is a consideration. I'd love to hear your suggestions! Thanks!
What about Scotland? Edinburgh is only 4 1/2 hrs. away by train and there are lots of day trips from there. You can also take the Eurostart train to Brussels.
How about Brussels? It's about the same travel distance between London and Paris. 4 days would be perfect including a day trip to Bruges while you're there.
York is wonderful! Weather is iffy, but no worse than London, and there's a lot to do and see - very entertaining walks, the city wall, and several good pasty shops, as well as a beautiful tea room in the town center. Enjoy!
I guess it depends on whether you want the experience of another country, another city or a bit of the country. Early March is not great for weather - I would agree with Brussels and York being great ideas. What about Oxford/Cotswolds?
