I'm having a hard time keeping all the different pros and cons about the various Paris neighborhoods clear in my head :)
Is anyone able to tell me some good and bad things about potentially staying in the 3rd arrondissement?

You could start by reading the description of each arrondissement here: www.parisnet.com/parismap.html.
the 3rd and the 4th are awesome areas. Lots of cafe, restaurants, night life, great metro links.
I honestly don't think there is a negative.
Hi Tim,
Thanks, yeah, I have already read stuff like that...it is pretty general though...i.e.:
"Along with the 4ème arrondissement, this neighborhood makes up the Marais, one of the oldest neighborhoods in Paris. Many 17th century mansions that once housed the noblest families in Paris are still to be seen in this quiet and ungentrified neighborhood."
Are there any drawbacks to the area? I can't seem to find any...
Thanks Bluedenim, (and hello there, neighbor!)
To get a rental apartment for under 100 Euros a night is pretty good for that area? Oui?
That depends on who you are renting through and the apartment ect. last time two years ago we rented and paid about 80Euros a night for a small studio which was fine, no issues. Our next trip in October we are going to rent a one bedroom with terrace for quite a bit more through the same cmpany.
p.S. sure has been hot the last few days!
re: the price, it also depends on how long you're renting for. Monthly rate per night is lower than weekly rate per night. We're renting a large studio on Ile Saint Louis (one of the most expensive areas of Paris) for 5 wks next May & June, paying $97 per night.
