istanbul

what type of items would be cost effective in Istanbul? I would like to bring gifts home from our tour but am not sure we will be able to buy much in the countries that have Euros as their currency.

Your post is quite baffling. Why will you not be able to shop in countries using euros but you can shop in Istanbul? What do you mean by "items that would be cost effective"? Do you mean cheaper than at home or do you mean affordable?

What I mean is that the American Dollar is not as strong as the Euro is. I was wanting suggestions for things that would be native to the country and maybe $20 or so(which I would consider affordable) to bring back to the States as gifts for friends. I hope this is clearer than my first e-mail. thanks Betty

In Istanbul the Spice Market is a wonderful place to buy exotic spices & herbs for friends at home for way under $20. Also a great place for photography.

FYI...the currency in Turkey is the Turkish Lira. If you use an ATM, this is the local currency you’ll receive. Merchants will sometimes accept Euros and US Dollars. Have a good trip!
