We took a 7 day cruise on the Rhine with Uniworld this past May and loved it. Most of the Rhine cruises are 7 days (It's not that long of a river!). We were gone 17 days be staying in Holland on the front end and ending in Switzerland at the end for a few days. You might be able to combine the Rhine and Moselle river cruises for a longer cruise.

A few years ago we also took the Uniworld Rhine River Cruise. Had a great time! The trip goes from Amsterdam to Basel and then also the reverse. We took the former route. Spent a few days in Amsterdam prior to the cruise and a few days in Zürich after the cruise.

Great staff and they really go all out to accommodate your needs (they all look forward to a nice tip at the end). The stops were well organized and the pace was OK. We would have liked to do more, but what we saw was good.

Uniworld does have (as suggested above) a 14 day Rhine/Mosel tour. Here's their web-page:

Best of luck!

Thanks for the feedback. Has anyone done the 14 day river cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest with Viking River Cruises? Dorsey

My brother and his wife just came back 2 weeks ago from Vikings river cruise Amsterdam to Budapest and enjoyed it very much. It was a two fer and the value they thought was very good. the crew was mostly Eastern european and well trained, courteous, friendly& efficient. The passengers were mostly in their 70's & up but also nice & friendly tourists w/ some americans on board.

My parents took an Amsterdam-Budapest cruise. The company was called INTRAV but I think they have changed names. The ship was called the MS Sound of Music.

My parents are experienced travelers who normally travel independently, but enjoyed the trip very much.

One thing: when my dad learned that the boat would only have commonly known beers like Heineken onboard, we gave him a six pack of good Trappist beers to bring with him. [We were in Flanders at the time so good beer was easy to locate.]

The crew [probably pleasantly surprised that an 80-ish American had such tastes in beer] graciously stored his treasure [cellar temperature] and served it to him when he requested it. A nice touch.
