Hotels in Salzburg

I am looking for a fun/nice hotel in Salzburg for a couple of nights. Not super expensive - but reasonably priced. Easy access to downtown sites and bus/trains if needed.

Thanks!

Deann,

I really enjoyed my stay at This Hotel. It wasn't fancy but very comfortable and the owners were great!

As you'll notice from the photo in the web link, there's a Church close by, and the Bells ring at various hours. I didn't find that to be a problem (and felt it added to the atmosphere to some extent).

There are lots of nice restaurants close to the Hotel, as well as ATM machines, etc. I found it to be an easy walk to the river and the "other side" of town.

Happy travels!

We liked the Hotel Pension Bergland. It is also across the river but a short walk from old town. There are also a number of restaurants in that residential area. They serve chocolate cake every morning with breakfast. Somehow it seems both wrong and right. Nice folks there.

We've stayed at the Goldenen Ente 3 times now, and it was fantastic each time. It's right in the old town, the staff is very helpful, the rooms are really nice, and the breakfast is great. It's a little more pricey than some of the other options unless there are 4 of you in which case they have an apartment that is very reasonable.

Depends on your price range. Though not cheap, the Hotel Auersperg is excellent.

Like Michael said, Weisse Taube. And you may still get a discount with Rick Steve's book... We got 10% off.

I also liked Altstadthotel Weisse Taube. We have also stayed at Wolf Dietrich which is on other side of river better hotel but I prefer Weisse Taube for its location.

Like Ken (and many other Rick-nics), we also stayed at the Hotel Goldene Krone. Good location, nice rooms, not fancy but quite nice, we would stay there again.

I'm always amazed when people come here and ask questions that are answered at such great length and with such detail in the book.

It's almost as if they haven't bought the book, and just want the information (that others happily pay for) for free. Nah, I'm sure it couldn't be that.
