Any great reasonably priced places by the Grand Place you can recommend. Going in Sept.
I had a good stay at the Novotel, next door there is the cheaper Ibis. Both owned by the same company: Accor.
I was just there in May and loved Brussels. We stayed at the hotel Le Madelaine. They are basic rooms but we had a huge bathtub with lots of hot water that felt great after long days of walking. Hotel The Moon is right next door and both are reasonably priced and are in great locations. They are on a little plaza (Espangne) about 4 minutes walk to the Grand Place, and 5 minutes to the train station. There was also a Best Western on the same plaza but I didn't go in. Weekend rates are much lower than weekdays in the city if you can plan around it. Have fun!
NovoTel was a great hotel - close to everything you'd like. Did however get a bag stolen out of the lobby while waiting for the taxi to the airport. All my Belgium chocolates....##@@!!!! I hope they ate them all at once and then got sick. I guess I got a little too involved in my email login. No reflection on the hotel but be warned - they are slick over there - nova
Hotel Dixseptieme was an interesting and classy combination of contemporary and traditional, and had a great breakfast. Was just a short walk to the Grand Place.
