I am planning on buying a Eurail pass. I want to go from Venice back to Paris on the most scenic trip through the alps with a night's stay in Austria or Switzerland. What train do I take? Will it be on the Eurail pass? What town should I stay in? I have 3 days to get back to Paris and on to London.
The route from Venice to Milan to Brig to Bern to Paris is probably the quickest, but if you went north from Milan through the lake district (Como, Lugano) and from there to Zug or Zurich, then across to Basel and Paris, it would be more scenic.
You could also go north from Venice, through the Dolomites and over Brenner Pass to Innsbruck, then through the Tirol to Switzerland (Appenzell), then across Switzerland to France.
For the first two routes, you need a pass covering Italy, Switzerland, and France. For the last route you would have to include Austria.
