We will be in Barcelona in Oct. We travel with two teen children. One hotel room is too small and two rooms can get expensive. In other cities we've rented apartments for the week, but don't plan on spending the full week in Barcelona. Any suggestions?

Hi, Eric, you can rent an apartment for 3 nights or more, some agencies might let you do it for 2 nights too. It will be cheaper, more space, might have internet access and you will save money by cooking some meals. We rented our apartment from www.friendlyrentals.com and we're very happy with their services.

We (wife, three kids and self) travel sans reservations a lot in the shoulder seaason. I take phone numbers for apartments and call ahead the day before I arrive. It's not rare for us to stay in a two-bedroom apartment. They like to require longer stays to book ahead but when they're sitting on an empty apartment, two or three nights rent seems like a good idea. I don't always get what I want on the first call but it rarely takes more than three.

You can also ask hotels for family rooms. They can have 4-5 beds in a large hotel room.
