Train Help

Ok I've spent quite a bit of time on the DB BAHN site putting together time tables for our trip. Questions that I can't seem to find in RS's books.

He recomends that we buy tickets at the staion. However for one trip: Lauterbrunnen > Interlaken > Luzern > Bellinzona (WIlliam Tell) > Chiasso > Monza > Varenna-Esino (Lake Como)

will i just be able to buy that one ticket from the station in Lauterbrunnen? Even though we are heading into Italy?

Any guidance on how to price that ride out?

I'm fairly certain that you won't have trouble buying a ticket from Lauterbrunnen to Varenna-Esino. We've done the reverse from Venice to Lauterbrunnen. No problem. The different countries have this all worked out.

What you will face is a 5.0hr-6.0 train journey with 2-5 train changes depending on the run you select just to get to Bellinzona. You can see these run options on www.rail.ch. This is the Swiss train website. I can see a 2nd class one-way fare of 76CHF (Swiss Francs). This is about $70. I don't have the fare from Bellinzona to Lake Como but you'll be on Regionale trains and they are not expensive.
