Has anyone had problems booking Air Berlin flights by PHONE (using Air Berlin “Service Center” which is actually “Amadeus IT Group SA” in Miami) … instead of booking ONLINE at Air Berlin website?
This is for flights between US and Europe and also within Europe (LAX to Düsseldorf and also Düsseldorf to Greece). Any other information you may have about Air Berlin would be much appreciated.

We are flying AirBerlin in June from Vancouver to Nuernberg(via Duesseldorf). We usually fly from Canada as we are halfway between Seattle and Vancouver. I checked the website many times but found more flight choices talking with them on the phone. Interesting enough, the flights we booked never even showed up on the website.
We flew with them two years ago when they were LTU, now since merged with Air Berlin. No problems then. We even had a near disaster coming home, stuck in traffic for over 2 hours(rail strike that day), we arrived at airport 45 min before flight, but they made sure we got on even tho they had closed the check-in counter.
Our big group of 20 flew Air Berlin from Orly to Munich, and they treated us perfectly.
I flew Air Berlin/LTU last spring from JFK to Dusseldorf. Ticket was $400 including all taxes and fees. I booked through the website. I thought it was a pleasant flight.
