Does the German Rail Pass cover Strasbourg, France? I'm traveling from Freiburg, Germany to Strasbourg and than from Strasbourg to Koln, Germany.
Unless you are going to take other trains in Germany, a railpass for these trips will not be cost effective. Freiburg-Strasbourg on regional trains is cheap. Strasbourg-Offenburg on regional trains is also cheap. If you book Offenburg-Koeln far enough in advance (up to 90 days allowed), you can get a Dauer-Spezial fare as low as €29.
And even if you are taking other trains in Germany, booking those rides in advance may also get you discount fares. In that case, you still won't benefit from a railpass. However, if you are taking long distance, high-speed trains for which the standard fare is quite high and you need flexibility in your travel dates, then a pass could work to your advantage.
