Accomodations in East Berlin

I'll be travelling to Berlin in June with my sister in law and our two 16 year old daughters. Any suggestions on a place to say in the East Berlin? Reasonably priced, but safe with parking near by.

May I suggest renting an apt.? This will not only give you more space, but also be considerably cheaper. Berlin has a lot of these type of rentals. It is nice to get up in the morning and have a kitchen to make coffee or some toast, etc. I have used this company to make arrangements and was really satisfied with how they did business. You pay the owner of the apt. though, not the folks running the website. The site is in English and you can pick your neighborhoods, and see availability right away. Just for curiosty, why the east side of Berlin?

Why East Berlin? Because I like the Ampelman? ok, seriously, my daughter is a big history buff and we'd like to be closer to the historical sites, i.e. Checkpoint Charlie, the Ghost Station, Hitlers bunker ?, and the wall. We are flexible however and open for suggestions. Thanks for the web tip. I'll check it out.

Because East Berlin is fantastic!!?! I wouldn't stay in the west... unless it was Kreuzberg.

Carolyn also check out the Circus Hostel and Hotel.

They've got a few penthouse apartments in the hostel and have just opened a new hotel across the street which has some nice reviews on tripadvisor.

And they're well connected to public transport. No parking, though.

um, Hitlers bunker is a non-descript plaque in a parking lot. Sort of right around the corner from the Brandenberg Gate and the US Embassy if I can remember correctly.

There are Ampelman souvenirs all over Berlin. They are quite fun, t-shirts, mugs, keychains, you name it. You will love Berlin. Do a walking tour your first day and you will get a great orientation to the city as well as see the main sites too AND hear all about the history. There are several good ones.

Lots of events going on to celebrate the fall of the wall 20 year anniversary too.
