france's daytripper pass

I am looking to take the overnight train from Nice to Paris. The website suggested I buy a daytripper pass to save money. Does anyone know more about this or if I have to purchase this pass in France or N. America before I arrive?

Since you're not getting any answers here, I suggest you cut and paste this post over to the Transportation section of the forum, where some of the forum's rail gurus are more likely to see it.
