Normandy Tours

Hi everyone! So I will be going to Europe in May with my younger brother and getting super excited about it! We will be going to Normandy for one day and would like to see the D-Day beaches and museums and all that. We will be coming from Paris and not staying over night in either Caen nor Bayeux. So which tour should we take? Thanks for your help!

Here's prior discussions of that subject on this forum, if you browse them you should be able to find the info you're looking for. Most travelers on this forum don't try to do it as a day trip from Paris because they want to use the most popular tour of people on this forum (BattleBus), which requires that you stay overnight in Bayeux the night before the tour. A day trip can be done but you'll have to find those posts, among those below, that specifically advise on how to do it as a day trip. You'll probably have to consider two options: 1) go on one of the big bus tours from Paris that picks you up at your hotel or 2) train to Caen (probably Bayeux as wel) and then connect with a guide whom you've previously arranged to meet you at the Caen or Bayeux train stations (as described by Bill below for the Caen station).http://www.ricksteves.com/graffiti/helpline/index.cfm/rurl/topic/25075/day-trip-to-normandy-from-paris.htmlhttp://www.ricksteves.com/graffiti/helpline/index.cfm?topic=28463http://www.ricksteves.com/graffiti/helpline/index.cfm/rurl/topic/27507/normandy-beaches-from-london.htmlhttp://www.ricksteves.com/graffiti/helpline/index.cfm?topic=10630http://www.ricksteves.com/graffiti/helpline/index.cfm/rurl/topic/27689/canadian-perspective-at-dday-sights.html

Or train to Caen, and have a guide pick you up in a minivan from the Memorial de Caen. This method is superior by far. Those big buses get stuck in traffic, and you have the problem of dealing with a large number of people. The minivans carry 6. The train to Caen is much faster than the bus can go on the autoroute.

You can make your reservation and purchase your tickets in advance at linkparis.com.

Linkparis also offers fast reasonable day trips to:
