So we are scheduled to be in Munich from May 19-21, 3 full days (but 2 hotel nights). What is your suggestion for May 20 (when we have a rented car all day, to go to Neuschwanstein castle) for other sights in that area or en route? If we pick up the car at 8:00 a.m. in the Hauptbanhof area, and are able to get on the road by 8:30 a.m..what time can we expect to reach the castle, what time should I book tickets for, and in what order should we do things that day? Any suggestions for what to do/see that day? How does Neuchwanstein castle, salt mines and Lenderhof and Obbermagau sound? Impossible? Other suggestions? Thank you!!

As you plan your routes, it is easiest to use a mapping program to get times. One popular program is Viamichelin. Linderhof castle lies roughly along your route to Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwanstein, and near Oberammergau. If you are into large, beautiful monasteries, consider Ottobeuren, near Füssen.
