2eme arrondissement / good neighborhood?

I found a very affordable appartment in the 2nd district, rue Beauregard. I know it's near enough to Rue St. Denis, which doesn't bother me. But, any thoughts on the safety / feel of the neighborhood? ( I'm comfortable enough walking around Seattle and NYC at night (in the safe places)).

I know everyone recommended the Marais, but I'm not finding much there. This is a good price - almost too good! which is why I am wondering.

Near enough to St Denis? It can't be a couple of blocks!

Good area. Go for it and count yourself proud. It's about as handy as you can get.
