I think I recall seeing a posting indicating booklets of train tickets for Belgium and the Netherlands. Something like booklets of 8 or 10 tickets, very inexpensive and advise that reservations not necessary. Advise?
Hi David -- I am looking into the same thing. You can get a Benelux pass that covers Belgium, Netherlands and Luxomberg trains. If you add up the cost of your day trips, check to see if the Benelux "5 day flex ticket" cost is worth it.

Otherwise, you can buy tickets as you go -- a sheet of 10 tickets for about $15, but most trains traveling for an hour 5-7 tickets one way and the ticket machines take only euro coins.
The Dutch train site might help with costs per day trip:

It's a science! I am going to follow Ricks guide book suggestions and do the travel worksheet!

Hi David...just found this info. Thought you may want to take a peek
"Bus....Eurolines (www.eurolines.com) and National Express (www.nationalexpress.com) buses connect Belgium with France, Germany, The Netherlands and the UK. Travellers can either choose Mini-Pass breaks or book a 15, 30 or 60 day pass. The Mini-Pass gives travellers the freedom to visit three cities, staying as long as they like in each city."
