Itinerary Suggestions

I'm looking for a little help with my itinerary and seeing all the experienced travelers here I figured this would be a great place to start. I will be studying abroad in Italy (I'll be in Paderno Del Grappa, a town NW of Venice) this summer and I will be traveling around after. I would like to go Vienna, Prague, Munich, and do some hiking in the Swiss Alps before heading North along the Rhine to meet my friend in Bonn.

I'm looking for suggestions on a good order to do this by train, keeping in mind that I'll be starting near Venice and finishing in Bonn all in about 8-10 days.

Thanks for any help or suggestions!

Holy cow, that's a lot. So, if I get this right, you want to do 5 countries in 8-10 days? That'll be about 1 day in each town, taking travel time into account. I'd take Vienna and Prague out of the mix, they're pretty far away from where you're going and would add a lot of travel time. Venice, Munich, Swiss Alps, and Bonn would be very doable.

If you're going to be on a student budget, skip the Swiss Alps, its one of the most expensive regions of the world. It looks like Paderno Del Grappa is close to the Italian Alps... there's a world of difference in costs, but a much smaller difference in scenery.

The best way to manage that trip is to plan on staying in hostels every night. Food, RR fares and lodging will consume your budget.

And I agree that you won't be able to visit all those towns in that limited time. Travel by train will take more time than you expect. Start by eliminating a couple of stops.
