Please Help! My husband and I are traveling to Vienna in July/09 I have read so many travel books and looked up so much stuff online that I am now so indecisive!! I would like some advice as to where to stay in Vienna centrally located that wont break the american bank so to speak..
Shannon, We stayed at Pension Neuer Markt last May and loved it (very nice room, helpful staff and great breakfast). It's in a very central location within short walking distance of the major sights. We took the bus from the train station and found it easily.
Shannon,
this link should also help you make some decisions, at the very least, it lists the link to many places to stay.
Even though I am in Vienna very often, I stay with friends and couldn't recommend one to you out of personal experiences.
hostel ruthensteiner double rooms are cheap and a great location. near westbahnhof.
We have stayed at the LeMeridian near the west banhof. A nice 10 min. stroll to the center city. Near tram/subway stops. Also stayed at the deFrance. More expensive, but VERY nice.
We too stayed at the Pension Neuer Markt. It is not expensive, has an elevator, provided transportation to the airport at a very reasonable price, serves a great breakfast, and the people were very accommodating.
When there in 2007, we stayed at the Pension Neuer Markt. It's in a good location, near the cathedral. The breakfast was excellent. Note, however, the Rick Steves groups have also discovered it so you may want to book it ahead, if possible.
