How possible is it to do Slovenia in 2 weeks (around 17 days) without a car? I was thinking of dividing it into 3 bases, for example Ljubljana, Maribor and Bled (Lake Bled) and then take short easy day trips from there to other interesting towns. We are in our early 30ths and love to see historical buildings, museums, nature and nice scenery, but we aren't into a lot of hiking. I'm planning for an October vacation.
Bled is a day-trip from Ljubljana; Wikipedia says it is a 75-minute bus ride. The small lake can be circled in a moderate stroll.

2 weeks for slovenia along is a little too much - it's a small country. i've visited LJU and Bled but not Maribor, and I ran out of things to do in LJU pretty quick. There are day trips you can take from LJU to nearby small towns, caves, etc, but 2 - 3 nights is enough. Lake Bled is nice to relex for a day or 2, but if you're not into outdoors that area is not much more beyond that. Suggest you head to the coast to see Piran/Koper, it's like visiting a part of Venice only paying half of the price.
