Have never been to Italy other than the Lakes District...group of 6 wishes to spend 2 weeks experiencing the non urban aspect of Italy..small towns, festivals maybe, markets, wineries, nothing urban. Should we stick just to Tuscany with 2 bases? Should we vary the location? Your thoughts appreciated please..

Annemarie, you might get more info if you post on the "To the Boot" forum. You could have two bases in Tuscany, or one in Tuscany and one in Umbria. When you go will determine what festivals you can fit in - both Tuscany and Umbria have grape harvests, truffle festivals, medieval celebrations in authentic costumes...
