I already know how much of a travesty of travel this is, but I really am sincerely asking... How should I spend my two hours between train rides (essentially 11am - 1pm)?
Assuming the station in question is the Hauptbahnhof, you could walk to the Brandenburg gate, and stroll down Unter Den Linden as time permits: http://g.co/maps/ue6bs
Richard, If you're going to be at the Hauptbahnhof, you're in luck. Not too far from the station doors is the Bundestag. It's the next stop on the short U55 line. The last stop on the line is Brandenburger Tor. That's about all you'll be able to see. Emily
I was just going to mention the U55 line. While it's not a long walk from the Hbf to the Reichstag and Brandenburg gate, the U55 will make it even faster. Just follow the "U" signs at the train station. If you move really fast, you might be able to walk down to the Jewish holocaust memorial as well. It's not far. There's also a currywurst stand right around there. If I had two hours in Berlin, I'd high tail it to Delores burrito shop near Alexanderplatz and get a giant burrito and Anchor Steam beer for my next train leg. But that's because I can't get those things in other parts of Germany. Plus you get a good look at the TV tower from there. But it's not as historic or beautiful an area so you're probably better off doing the former plan unless you decide you REALLY need a good Mission-style burrito in Germany (who knows?)
Thanks everyone! I'll cram in what I can and perhaps have an interesting story to tell about missing my train to Prague. ;)
