I will be arriving in Zurich in July from Munich after 3 weeks in Europe. We'll be getting in around 11 a.m. on a Monday, and leaving around 9 a.m. on Wednesday. I'd like to see Lucerne and Mt. Pilatus. Do you think I'll have any time to see anything else? Would it be worth it to spend an afternoon in Bern? Zurich looks kind of boring.

To me Zurich is a business City. Stay in Lucerne, there is a train from Zurich airport. (Lucerne and Pilatus can be "done" in two days). If you are curious about Bern, there is enough there for a good afternoon's sightseeing

Unfortunately don't have a choice, staying on hotel points near the airport. Thanks, Bern looks like a fun afternoon if we're not totally pooped.

then be sure to visit Lucerne- the (approx 1 hour ) train journey is pleasant and efficient. The old down town center, Kappel Bridge; Lion monument are all in close proximity to the Lucerne train station. Nice town to walk around in.
