Berlin, Dresden

I'd want to be in Berlin--it's a larger city and I it would be very festive on Christmas eve and Christmas day--though haven't actually been there on Christmas day. We were in Berlin and Dresden in March and I liked visiting Dresden but Berlin has more to offer. Sounds like a great trip!

I agree, Berlin would be my choice. Dresden was very interesting, but it is smaller. There is so much going on in Berlin.

Alternatively you could spend Xmas day in a small town or village in the Erzgebirge mountains around the town of Zittau, which is the area where Xmas decoration once was initially invented and where still pretty much everything is decorated using hand-crafted original ornaments etc.
