carte orange in paris

I would like to purchase a Carte Orange ticket at CDG upon our arrival. Couple of questions: does the photo have to be passport quality or can I just take a regular photo and cut it to size?

Can you use a VISA credit card to purchase a Carte Orange?

Do I understand correctly that the Carte Orange will get me on the RER and into Paris?

Finally - is there a staffed metro ticket window at CDG?

Thanks for all your help! We leave in 10 days!!

You can cut any photo to size. You can use a credit card. A Carte Orange will get you into Paris if you buy one covering zones 1-5, but that may not be your best choice. It may be cheaper to buy a single ticket (8.20€) to get into Paris and buy a Carte Orange for zones 1-2. There are two RER stations at CDG: CDG 1 and CDG 2 TGV. Both are staffed. The paper Carte Orange is being phased out and each month fewer stations carry them. You probably will have to buy a passe Navigo Decouverte, a re-chargeable plastic card on which you will load a Carte Orange. The card costs 5€ and is good for ten years. See here.
